Langley’s Choral Department has a long and rich history. It has consistently won high awards at state, regional and national competitions. In the last several years Langley has placed a large number of students in the District 12, VMEA and All-State Honors Choirs.
Performances: The choirs perform five formal concerts during the school year and a Renaissance Feaste during the holiday season in December. Each Spring they travel to a major national competition. Every four years, the choral department embarks on an international performance tour. In 2008 the choirs traveled to Italy; in 2012 they will compete in the Young Prague Festival in the Czech Republic followed by a performance tour of Salzburg and Vienna, Austria.
We need your help. The special programs that enhance your student’s choral education are only possible with support from you as a member of the Choral Guild. We need all parents to volunteer their talents and time to ensure our programs are successful.
There are many ways to become involved:
• Join a committee: You can volunteer for the activity or activities that interest you. We have “How To” manuals for each of the committees that contain best practices, contacts and suggestions for success. So you don’t have to reinvent the wheel, unless you want to!
• Volunteer as-needed: For parents looking to lend support on an ad-hoc basis, there are opportunities to help on individual events and activities. These opportunities are posted on the website and communicated through our newsletter This Week in Choir.
• Lend financial support: Always a welcome means of helping our choirs! Join the Choral Guild at the Member, Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum level and support the choral sponsored fundraisers.
• Attend Choral Guild meetings: All choral parents are encouraged to attend the meetings held on the second Wednesday of each month at 7:00 pm in the Choir Room. This is a wonderful opportunity to get acquainted with other choral parents.
