The Choral Department has a busy school year and we need everyone’s help to ensure that our programs are successful. Volunteering is a wonderful way to support your child’s choral experience. Please take a look at the descriptions below and then view our Parent Volunteer Form to volunteer in an area of your interest. We would love to have you help in any way you are able!
General Concert Support: Volunteers perform a multitude of behind-the-scenes jobs important to the success of our concerts. Publicizing our events within LHS and the community, designing and printing programs, decorating the front of the stage, staffing ticket sales tables, organizing student ushers, taking pictures, and shooting videos – the volunteer opportunities are numerous and varied.
Hospitality: Our Hospitality Coordinator arranges for refreshments to be offered at our concerts and sets up and mans our refreshment table. Volunteers sign on to donate drinks or baked goods and/or help at the table. Volunteers also help with set-up, serving, and clean-up at our June Choral Awards Potluck Picnic at LHS.
Fundraising: The Choral Guild sponsors a number of fundraisers during the school year. This year, funds will be used to help students pay for their Spring Trip to San Antonio, Texas. Currently, volunteers are needed in late October to help sort Coffee into individual student orders (one weekend morning or afternoon) and the first week in December to distribute Holiday Greens (shifts usually are scheduled for a few weekday evenings and a weekend day, depending on our coordinator’s schedule). We also need a Parent Coordinator for our Choral Car Wash on October 17th at the Great Falls Exxon, as well as shift volunteers to supervise students at both our fall and spring car washes. For more information, click the "Car Wash Guidelines" link on the Community Car Washes page.
Renaissance Madrigal Feaste: Imagine a beautiful dining hall, walls draped with holiday greenery and banners reminiscent of 16th-century England; 100-plus choir students costumed in renaissance-style garb; tables to seat 150 adorned with decorations; great food and drink; and phenomenal entertainment by our Madrigals backed by the rest of our wonderfully talented choir students. This December event is possible every year because of a wealth of parent volunteers. Since the show runs for two nights, many parents enjoy the show one night and volunteer to help the other. Detailed information about this year’s Feaste will be emailed to all choral parents in November, with a sign-up sheet for specific volunteer duties. In the meantime, you can indicate your general interest in being a Feaste volunteer.
Spring Trip: While our Trip Coordinator assists the Choral Director with all aspects of our Spring Trip, a few volunteers are needed prior to the trip to help photocopy and assemble trip notebooks. In addition, we need about a dozen chaperones, each of whom will be responsible for a small group of students as we travel to Texas in April.
Wardrobe: Our Wardrobe Coordinator costumes choir students for the Madrigal Feaste. We need 3-4 volunteers in early November to help fit students for their costumes and 4-5 volunteers at the Feaste to assist students with their costumes (some basic "quick fix" sewing skills are always a plus for those last minute adjustments). For those with sewing ability/talent, you may want to volunteer to alter existing costumes or help make new renaissance-style costumes for the Feaste!
Choir Parents: Two parents per choir are needed to help support and assist Dr. Lambert with occasional administrative details during class. Duties include distributing choir uniforms in the fall and spirit pack items as needed, collecting money and order forms, helping with the coffee and holiday greens fundraising tallies, and bringing in classroom treats on special holidays. This is a great way to get to know the terrific kids in your son’s or daughter’s choir, and your efforts will be greatly appreciated. Our Choir Parent Liaison bridges communication between Dr. Lambert and the Choir parents.
