CHORAL GUILD NEWS
TUESDAY CHORAL GUILD MEETING - Our last Guild Meeting is scheduled for May 13th at 7 PM in the Choir Room. On the agenda is discussion of our volunteer needs for the Spring Show and Choral Awards Picnic and nomination/voting on next year's slate of Guild Officers and volunteer positions.
Currently, the slate is as follows: President - Stacy Fischer; Treasurer - Kim Bailey; Coffee Sale - Sheryl Check; Holiday Greens - Betsy Hubbell; Programs/Artwork - Susan Bumsted; Spirit Pack Apparel - Kim Young; Spring Trip - Alexandra Bechter, Cyndi Gray (Head Chaperone), Kim Bailey (Payment Collection); and Videographer - Bill Check.
At this point, we are working to fill the positions of Vice President and Secretary, and we are in need of coordinators for back-to-school folder publication, carwash fundraisers (fall and spring), concert ushers, and Guild membership (sending out thank you letters for membership donations), as well as choir parents for Women's Select, Concert Choir, Chamber Choir, and Madrigals. Please contact Cathy Rosenquist at hapkmpr@gmail.com if you have any interest in volunteering for any of these positions (or if you know you will not be able to volunteer in your current capacity or wish to volunteer in a new one).
TUESDAY 2008-09 MADRIGAL and MADRIGAL PARENT MEETING - Immediately following the May 13th Choral Guild Meeting, about 8:00 PM, there will be a short meeting in the Choir Room of the 2008-09 Madrigals and their parents. We will be taking orders for Madrigal sweatshirts and tee shirts, which are first used at the home football games in the fall; we will be asking two parents to act as "Mad Parents" next year to help with various administrative duties (ie dispersal of sweatshirts, tee-shirts, trip tee-shirts, etc.); we will be updating contact information for next year's Choir Directory; and we will be hearing from Cristi Goldberg, our extraordinary costumer, about costumes for next year's Madrigal Feaste. We will also be hearing from our 3rd-year Madrigals about the Madrigal experience. This will be a great opportunity for Madrigal families to get together as a group before the beginning of next year's busy schedule.
SPRING TRIP DVD - Relive (or experience for the first time) our choirs' wonderful performances in Italy! The trip DVD is now in the process of being professionally duplicated. It contains the concerts in Florence and Venice, Voicemale singing "Come Go With Me," and Women's Chamber on the canals in Venice singing "Bela Bimba." Bill Check's wonderful videography skills in Florence and Venice make this a DVD to own! (Poor background lighting in Civita Castellana together with disc space limitations led to the inclusion on the DVD of only the second two concerts.) The DVD runs a little over 1 hour and 45 minutes and will be available to purchase beginning at Tuesday's Choral Guild meeting for $10 each. Checks are to be made out to "LHS Choral Guild."
SPRING SHOW TICKETS ON SALE - It is time again for the choral department?s spring show on May 29th and 30th at 7:30 PM! Come and enjoy "Show People! Songs and Medleys from Broadway's Most Popular Musicals" which will feature numbers from Oklahoma, West Side Story, Ragtime, A Chorus Line, Dreamgirls, Grease, South Pacific, and Thoroughly Modern Millie. Beginning Monday, May 12th, students will be receiving 20 tickets to sell (10 for each performance). By Friday, May 23rd, the students must turn back to Dr. Lambert any unsold tickets plus money collected for those that they did sell. Any unsold tickets will then be sold at the door. Tickets purchased from the students are $5 each; at the door, $8 each.
SPRING SHOW USHERS - Eight ushers are needed for each performance to collect tickets and hand out programs. Please contact Ruth Kinsley at rkinsleyathome@cox.net if you can help.
